Poker News: FTP Banned in South Korea????

    Ladies and Gents,

    For the past few days now, I have been unable to logon to the FTP client or visit Tonite when I tried to visit the page yet again, I got a page all in korean and the only thing I could read was something that said "The Korean Internet Safety Commission." The only reason I am able to access the site now is through a proxy server. Does anyone have any news on this? Is Korea intending to ban all online poker sites, or just FullTilt? Does FullTilt have any response to this? Or am I just going crazy? Help me out!

    No. Normal everyday ISP. Everything worked fine until a few days ago. Verified the same problem at a friends place. At this point I have to assume that Korea has gone the way of China and decided to censor particular sites out completely. Strange though that every other poker site I try works fine...

    Anyway..Still waiting to hear from support so we'll see what happens.

    Are there no other players in South Korea experiencing this? Are there no other players in South Korea?

    Hi I'm in South Korea as well and I haven't been playing here because as far as I could tell it was illegal. I can however access the fulltiltpoker.com site. I had read an article that talked about a recent increase in blocking of gambling sites but I can't find it now and I could have misread the date. Who's your isp?

    I wouldnt be suprised if korea banned it because there is no gambling allowed in south korea unless your a tourist I heard

    My ISP is Hanaro. I've looked around and it seems like I misread the date and that the last time they where going around blocking gambling sites was in 2006. Sorry I don't think I can help much as I don't speak Korean and I don't know anything about anonymizer/proxy servers.

    LG Dacom is my ISP. What is yours? I suppose it is possible it is just the ISP. I just wish that A) i could read the screen that comes up and B) I could find an anonymizer/proxy server that works with the poker client. Otherwise I guess it is off to Stars, or quit altogether....

    Also...could you point me in the direction of this article or can anyone find a literature on things like this?
