I was browsing through some of the players in the Top 100 of PocketFives Online Tournament Rankings and I was a bit surprised at how young so many of these players were.

Of the Top 20, two players did not list their age. Of the remaining eighteen, seventeen were between 18 & 27 years old... the "oldtimer" of the group was 34. Half of the Top 20 is 22 or younger!
I guess I was expecting to see more people in their 30s or even 40s... people that have had time to build up some money in their account to afford the high online buy-ins... players such as JohnnyBax, Raymer, Hachem, etc.
Anyone have any theories about why the more seasoned/experienced players seem to have a hard time finding the success that these young kids are having?
I'm also curious to know how many young kids are blowing what little money they have trying to score big... probably more than we can imagine.
I summarized the Top 20 here... if I get some time, I will add to this list.

Seasoned pros are also not playing the sheer amount of tourneys as many of the top rated "ONLINE" tourney players. Statistics explains why many of the pros are light years away from the online winnings as some in this top 100.
Not to crack your idea because younger and younger players are dominating the field, but i think it mostly has to do with how many young players there actually are. most old timers or pros arent gonna stand up statistically when there are 5000 21 year old players to every 100 pros and oldies
and a good many of the better known "older " pros are playing cash games, live
