As of this morning, this video has already gotten over 5 million hits. It is a touching tribute to our American soldiers. And, Lizzie Palmer, the girl who made this, is only 15 years old! I'm sure this will be especially moving to anyone who has a loved one in the military.

If you think Kardsh4rk was victimizing any soldier, you greatly misread.

When I watched the video of the link posted at the top of this thread, I was too stunned to reply. What the hell is wrong with people? Do you not see (or do you just not care) that marching people off to die for a useless cause is wrong?

This war is not about protecting the US - THERE WAS NEVER A THREAT TO THE US FROM IRAQ!

As of today ... the people behind the attacks on September 11th are still alive and at large. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of people who had nothing to do AT ALL with the attacks on September 11th are now dead. What exactly is there to be proud of?

I'm not bashing the soldiers. I'm not bashing the service men and women. They are doing their jobs. They get paid (a helluva lot less than they should be paid) to do their jobs.

You ... as American people ... were lied to! You should be furious! You should be marching in the streets and forcing recalls of your elected officials because your brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends, cousins, aunts, uncles and neighbors are being sent off to die for a lie!

Instead, many of you continue waving the flag, spouting 3-word mantras like 'support our troops' and saying 'we can't cut and run', because you're all too afraid of being labelled as un-American if you disagree with your leaders. Sounds an awful lot like the McCarthy era!

The Bush administration coined the phrase 'support our troops' as a way to deflect the real issues. If you don't support THEIR WAR .. then you don't support the troops. If you don't agree with their tactics, then you don't support the troops. WHY CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS IS BULLSH!T?!?

While they have accused everyone and anyone who disagreed with them of "Not supporting the troops" ... it was their administration who shipped these young men and women off to fight and die with sub-standard weaponry, defective body armor, supply shortages, horrific care facilities for the wounded returned home and it was their adminstration who cut spending to veterans benefits. OH MY GOOD GOD ... and they accuse everyone else of not supporting the troops?

In the meantime, they have destroyed your economy, driven you into a massive debt that will take about 500 years to climb out of, cut funding and spending to important programs like education, pissed all over your civil rights and the rights afforded you by your own constitution and have instilled a continuing fear of attacks in you, all the while, pissing off pretty much all of the other countries in the world with their bullying and bullsh!t. When their term is done, they'll all walk away richer than when they arrived ... and it will be YOU and your families who have to clean up the mess they made!

The politicos have also succeeded in completely splitting your country in half along party lines. Ever heard, United we stand, divided we fall? Guess what? Stay divided and the fall isn't far away!

America is not all-powerful and all-supreme like they want you to think. China is immerging as the next century's super power - and your country is deeply in debt to them! China doesn't even have to fire a single bullet to destroy the US ... all it has to do is call in it's loans. Do you honestly think the Chinese (who are still under communist rule) don't know this - and don't laugh about it?

If you really want to support your troops ... do everything in your power to get them out of that war. March. Protest. Speak up and shout out! Get them out!

Or ... do nothing at all. Continue to say things like "I support our troops" ... because your words are of little comfort to the families who are burying thier loved ones. Put another damned ribbon sticker on your bumper, because that is what really pays for adequate care for the injured. Stay on the bandwagon and stay blind - because the real murderers of the people on Sept. 11th want you to. Each day that is spent focused on fighting a bullsh!t war in Iraq is another day that nobody gives a damn about the next attack they are planning against you.

Kardsh4rk-I am not going to disagree with anything you posted, however, the point of that video is to simply "remember", as the title states, our soldiers. Their lives are amongst the most difficult in terms of the financial, emotional, physical, and mental stresses they endure to do their job.

And, if there was/is/ever will be a serious threat to our country, (USA) THEY will be the ones fighting for our safety and freedom. Let's not victimize them in any way for the wrongs of their commanders.

It's far too easy to get heroes confused with victims.

Another one. Who cries for the Iraqi's? The coalition is the problem not the solution.

    Long tongue liars.

    war (wôr) pronunciation

    n.

    1. A state of open, armed, often prolonged conflict carried on between nations, states, or parties.*****

    2. The period of such conflict.

    3. The techniques and procedures of war; military science.

  3.

It isn't a war we're fighting. We're occupying thier country. Everyone in that occupation over there is a victim...on both sides.

We are solving nothing; we are changing nothing by being there. Saddam being put to rest for his crimes is the only good thing that came out of that. As sad as it sounds.

The day we leave that occupation won't be in our lifetime.

The troops know they have to follow orders. They know why they're there. And it isn't to protect us.

Do I support them? Yes. Do they need our support? Yes. Do I support the reasons why they are there? No. Bring them home already. And leave the specialists there to deal with Al-Quida.

Oh good grief, don't get it started again

  4.

    +1

I believe the number of coalition deaths in Iraq has now surpassed the number killed in WTC, so I imagine Osama Bin Laden is feeling somewhat inadequate.

I think the only people who are proud are the suicide bombers who take coalition troops with them, as they are the only ones actually achieving their goal in Iraq.

This video is over a year old, so some of the casualty figures are out of date, but the point is the same:

I don't see what there is to be proud about.

    Sympathetic? Yes. Proud? No.
