I wonder how funny it would be if Humberto hit you in the eye with his shark / laser pointer in a tourney you just dropped a ton of cash on to play ?

I think some of the pro's go way to far .. like Helmuths rants , he is going to get knocked on his azz someday for that . I have seen Humberto make contact with players with his little toys and I would pitch such a biotch about that , especially if I payed some of the entry fee's they are charging now.

The thing i s, most of the poker I have played has been in an environment where being invited to step outside for bad behavior was always a possibility . Maybe thats why we showed each other a bit more respect than some of them do in TV land

Phill Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson and Patrick Antoinius are 3 that spring to mind.

Daniel is known for his readng skills, and thats fair enough - but he is known more so because he says it outloud. There are plenty of other players who can read people like a book as well, they just not to announce it verbally.

As for the poster who says player of the year is bigger than main event title, sorry I have to disagree. The Main event is practically a lottery now, and I think the percentage wise difference in winning it through luck is a lot higher than the rough 80/20 skill luck factor most people belive in in , but you still require some sort of aptitude to beat a field of 9000.

I have to agree that Negreanu is damn good. From what I have sen he reads people like no other and he is one of the most intelligent players in . It is also overlooked that he was player of the year in 2005. I think that is an accomplishment that does not get enough recognition. In my opinion that is greater than the main event title in certain respects.

    - 3 WSOP Braclets

    - 24 WSOP ITM finishes

    - 2 WPT Titles

    - 7 WPT final tables

    - 14 WPT ITM finishes (Record, tied with John Juanda)

    - 4 WPT ITM finishes in a row (Record)

    - Nearly $10,000,000 in live tournament winnings (Only behind Gold & Hachem)

That's just naming a few of his accolades. Either that is one hell of a hot streak or he IS as good as people say he is.

Man Humberto and Daniel are ones of my fav players. Humberto is just so out there and funny and talks your ear off and then Daniel can almost always read you like a book. He has great instincts and I love how he talks to himself during hands. That is how I do it whether live or online.

Well, it's going on 1 year that Michael Craig hasn't bothered to respond to this well thought out, and legitimate question that Deadstock poses.

I find it ironic that you refer to Humberto Brenes as a clown, when obviously this is a case of the Pot Calling The Kettle Black, don't you think?

Go away, and take your Forum with you, Mr. Craig.

Humberto is hilarious. He's also pretty good, as seen by his runs at the WSOP the past couple of years. He is very entertaining, and doesn't intend to harm anyone.

Actually he is over 10mil, and he is the only player do it w/o the help of a big WSOP ME finish, as Gold and Hachem have. I believe his biggest tournament cash was only for about 1.7mil at the Five Diamond in 2004. He must be doing something right.

*On a side note, Hellmuth, who has been tearing up the WPT championship with about 30-40 players left, will also eclipse the 10mil mark if he can manage 3rd or better I think.

Daniel Negreanu, has to be the best.sorry mikey but daniel is the best.how many people can look you dead in the eye and tell you, excatly what you have..? no one.and well he is the real deal

I can see how you may not like Daniel Negreanu's personality and chattiness as sometimes it can be cheesy, and rehearsed sometimes, but to downsize his accomplishments thus far in his career is laughable! Over $10 million in live prize money, and his ability to read people is SICK not to mention him being able to tell your exact whole cards suits and all quite frequently.I'd certianly take his abilities, dont know how you wouldn't sir .But to each his own I guess

you've got to be joking by saying Daniel has done so well over his career by being "hot". Have you ever watched him play? He's absolutley amazing how he can just look you dead in the face and say what you have and what you are going to do. You might as well go as far as saying Ivey and Cunningham are overrated as well. These guys grew up playing cards have feelings that not many people in the world posess.

I cannot believe that u r saying nething against Daniel. He is the best and most fun player around. I love the way he plays. He creates energy in everyone around him. Humberto is an excellent player also. If u dont like his sharkk then say so. I think his sharks are entertaining.

From what I've seen/heard, I have to disagree with both comments. I've watched him on TV, heard Joe Sebok talk about him, and seen him in the WCOOP. He makes stupid calls with, say, ATo preflop with no reason to do so, only to be dominated terribly.

He also is obviously just acting for TV. His little shark drives everyone crazy. Apparently he sucked out on Sebok to knock him out and then proceeds to get all up in his face with his shark acting as though it was a great play by him.
