I have written some software for windows for tracking stats and I am commercially selling it. I have seen in this post a lot of talk about importing hand histories. Currently my software allows you to setup multiple sessions and import from the likes of poker charts etc, but not hand histories from the sites. How important is this to the end user?

It is not Mac ready yet, but I am working on this in the next few months. Anyway input on the hand history stuff is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tim

    Bump.

Jazz, did you ever get the kinks worked out? If so, can you shoot me a copy of the spreadsheet? Email is clussman at hotmail dot com.

Well, they apparently added support for Full Contact Poker and EuroPoker in June, but no support for Full Tilt yet. Makes no sense. A Mac poker tracker that doesn't track one of the most popular Mac poker sites? No timeline on the site or their forums either. Sigh.

  3.

never heard of using spreadsheets as a replacement for tracking programs.. how does it work?? i just got my mac today and was really hoping to find something to replace poker tracker

ill take a copy of it also if you dont mind

    thanks

    Tim,

It depends on what kind of software you're talking about. Software like PokerTracker and MacPoker Pro track every hand played in order to provide you statistics on your own play and on players you've seen before.

It is generally felt that you need 10,000 hands of data to gain any meaningful statistics on how individual hands perform for a player.

If you're trying to provide that sort of information, and you don't import old hand histories, then you're asking the user to play 10,000 new hands once they've purchased your software.

In addition, if you don't parse hand histories, how do you provide live statistics during a game?

www.openendsoftware.com is the only pokertracker for Mac that I know of. A version that supports Full Tilt is in the works (Hopefully it comes out soon, it's been in developement for a while), and as you can see it only tracks Texas Hold'em (I am beggining them for Omaha support), but it is the best, albeit only, poker tracker for Mac.

    Hey Jazz,

If you don't mind, you think I could get a sample of the spread sheet you use. I could send you mine too. Just started with it about a week ago. If anyone else wants it, I will be happy to send you the file. Just trying to get the best tracking possible.

    Thanks

    -Kid B

The software is locked down.. just pony up the $40 - unless of course that's too much for your bankroll

Also, you get 1000 hands for free in demo mode, give it a try I say.. I love it and the only way it will continue to work is if we all support it, not try to steal it.

Looks promising, and at $39.95 is cheaper than Poker Tracker, no? I was expecting a higher price as it appears to be the only option for Mac.

I haven't been able to find anything either. I just made a spreadsheet for Excel. It's mostly for tournaments, but PBiddy is adding a part for cash games too.

Glad to see this finally works with FTP. I pulled down the demo, played a S&G with it running, pulled in a few hand histories, and I was impressed enough that I bought it. Lots of statistics in there that I'll be digging through over the next few weeks.

MacPoker Pro is great, but it's useless for multitabling, too many windows, and it takes too long to find your current opponent in macpoker pro.

the stats of a player should be displayed directly in the notes of the player. I don't know how this can be done.

I've found another issue. Where the cards are listed ... it won't let me sort by the columns. I click and click and click .. and nothing. Hmmm. It was working before.

The spreadsheet they are talking about it to help you track your earning is SnG's. It's not a hand by hand tracker. Unfortunately, there are no viable options for serious players. MacPokerPro is a horrible program after loading 10k hands into it. I currently have 22k hands in there and it is virtually unusable. Hopefully were will be a new option in the near future.

found a glitch. It froze up on me once - but I was able to quit and restart without losing any stats. I paid the $$ ... it's better than what I have been using (nothing)

Today OpenendSoftware released their Full Tilt version of MacPoker Pro:

Damn. I thought 'openended' meant it was 'opensource' and excitedly went to look for the source code.

I was literally just browsing the web for alternatives, when I gave up and saw this under the new posts. I agree with Clussman, no idea what is taking OpenEnd so long to get their act together...

Anyone mind sending me a copy of the sheet as well?

    Thanks.

I bought it yesterday and I think it is great. Only problem is to batch-import the old hand histories, someone has to write an Applescript for this.

Using it in 'demo' version which seems to work fine (no limitations, that I can tell ... just an annoying 5 second wait at the beginning). Best of all, it hasn't crashed yet

I'm impressed. Some other Mac users should give it a try and post thoughts.
