Pete, any word on when the leaderboard will be back online?
I agree that we need to decide now if tonight's game is going to count toward the 20 weeks.
I'd vote on it counting because tonight really is just another day. I think last year it was on Christmas Eve, which is a completely different story.
I'll assume that it's counting unless TR says something very soon.
I apologize for my immature behavior. I do respect all of the forumers. And most of you are very good players, most likely better than me
I mostly kid around, but sometimes my temper does get in the way. But I wish I wouldn't be judged solely on the times I run amok. I have tried to offer thoughtful advice to many posts, I often take a lot of time to craft my replies. I hope I've been helpful, or at least have stimulated thought in some instances.
I'd like to think I have a decent rapport with a few of you that understand that I mostly like to joke around and that I do get remorseful when I go too far. Cubbies has his/her mind made up...I respect that. But I wish the holier-than-thou attitude could get dropped.
Best of luck to all of you in the coming weeks.
I know, mostly just kidding around to rub it in to judgmental types like cubbies. But I respect all of you, you're all excellent players.
Truth be told, I've been quite lucky so far. I've won pretty much every race I've been in. But today, I made a few more moves than usual because I didn't get rockets 5 times like I have in some of the other tournies
Did you like my all in call with QJ? I am sure fire_eyes didn't like, but I was getting over 2:1, I think I had to call. I wish I hadn't raised there, but I did it, made a call I think I had the odds for and got lucky.
Thanks craig, but unlike you, I was very fortunate. Got dealt some great starting hands, QQ, KK, or AA maybe a total of 6 or 7 times throughout the tournament.
But I had one or two over the past few weeks where I just couldn't get it going because I was card dead...very frustrating! And even more so, when people just raise, raise, raise. That said, I don't think re-raising with AK is such a bad play...it's a great showdown hand. If the guy's shove was a massive overbet, ok, maybe that's bad...but if not, I think he played it well. AK is great for raising and re-raising, it's really a fold equity type hand in my opinion. And if you do get called, you usually want to see all 5 cards...it's not a race against an underpair when you only get to see a flop.
But sorry to hear about your bad run. You're a strong player, once you get some cards, you'll turn it around. You're still doing well overall. See you next week!
You guys were doing pretty well at one point? Wow, I wonder what that's like.
I probably won't make the next 2 or 3, as I'm home for the holidays and that means dialup, which I don't trust enough to play much on, especially in early evening hours, so I'm likely waiting until I'm back at school in January to rejoin the game and take some more beatings. Just in case anyone cared.
Happy Holidays All,
If I am understanding this right, will this now actually be a 22 week session, with the next two weeks not counting or..............?
Hey everyone it’s been a vary long time. Just stopped by to see if the tourneys are still going on and looks like they are. Just a couple of questions: Is the password still the same; is it still on Sunday nights, how many of the original group are still playing, when does the new season start, and last is there room for one more ?
cool
GG Phoenix! I think your going to take 1st for the season. keep it up and see you guys next week!
This was a tough tourny, everyone played great. Phoenix played exceptional heads up. well deserved.
I am going to send Gypsydc the results for MBJ Season 3. It will be in Excel, so just ask her for it (in a few hours).
Dude, you are pwning right now. Well Played.
But don't let that head of yours get too big. Still a lot of to be played
that does look amazing. and im actually on it. i played one of these (poorly) thats kinda kool. ill join seriously some day.
maybe he signed up for one but forgot about it, and was just blinded out...
That seems correct. These next 2 weeks will not count toward the leaderboard, so it's kind of like a 2 week winter break.
I was doing pretty well.. Then had KK and ran into AA
Better than the usual suckout elimination in this MBJ series, though.
What you seem to be overlooking, Phoenix, is the fact that all of this began with this thread....shortly after you sent me a PM regarding the flame war with craig.
Then you continued to use the PM feature to blast other's play. Everything ensued from there.
I don't claim to know you because I have absolutely no desire to know you. You have displayed some characteristics through this whole ordeal that I really don't like. I cannot respect a player who cannot control his temper. When you fire off a PM (because you're chat banned, obv.) during the middle of a game blasting my/others play, that just shows how much of a cry baby you are.
You then try to backtrack by using the forum to make yourself appear to be the better man.
I have never personally attacked anyone in this forum without a good reason for it. You have brought it upon yourself.
With that being said, I think that you're a very good player. I just wish that you had been able to handle your latest successes while showing some humility and respect for your fellow forumers.
The points are in there now.
cool
Echo Echo Echo
Well, I didn't know of this series until Week 5, so I have already missed 4! Need to play when I'm around to ensure I get 15 events in.
But I am ok with tonight's not counting. I'd just prefer to hear word in advance, if at all possible.
Wow, what an unprecedented run of greatness. I am currently listening to the Mr. Perfect theme song. I think it's fitting.
Good game Man of Steel, you were a worthy adversary. Sorry I didn't see cubbies at the final table.
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Good game NightPrince. Too bad you rivered me heads up. Oh well, I had a long way to climb, no guarantee I would have made it back. Wish this could have counted Good game to you too cubbies, sorry if I've offended you. I can be a caustic individual, but I mean no harm and gotta have confidence in .
Sometimes it takes a few days. I'm certain that TR adds them manually whenever he gets around to it.
Well Done.
woo i'm in the top 10!
Yeah, just means you cant make up ground or lose any ground tonight. Standings will be left blank and week 11 will be in two weeks. 22 weeks is really long though, its just about half a year.
I was actually able to open it about 99% by going to file and opening/editing it with excel. It asked for a password but i got in somehow. I did save it in my documents with another name.
I'm not too computer savvy, so i cant tell you much more.
That was last night right before MBJ.
You continue to prove my points as your arrogance gets stronger week after week. You'd be earning much more respect if you were able to take this great run that your experiencing without boasting and feeling the need to put every other player down just so that you can reassure your elitist attitude.
I didn't make the Final Table because of unfortunate timing when I shoved with AQs against a player who had been raising alot against a short-handed table. The player behind me who hadn't entered the pot yet happened to wake up with AA.
I'm not judgmental of your play, or your game....I only point these things out because you carry yourself with very little class in a fun-spirited league that's suppose to be in the spirit of competition.
Here are a few of your greatest pieces, you classy guy:
Wow, what an unprecedented run of greatness. I am currently listening to the Mr. Perfect theme song. I think it's fitting.
Sorry I didn't see cubbies at the final table.
Just keep showing up each week so I can take your chips.
I'll just keep dominating like I do every week and I'll win this thing one of these days. Congrats on your finish. What'd that pay? -$5.50?
Haha, think what you want. Better luck next week. Maybe read up on how to play.
Good game, wish I could have been the one to have the honor of felting you...
You like to re-raise eh? Think you're f***ing tough? Keep it up you goddamn maniac.
Are you a four-time heads up finalist this season?
Thanks Ambitious- Email me with more details about your tournament series...
Pete
I'm willing to let things go, as I see that you realize some of my points.
As I've stated on numerous occasions, your advice seems quite sound, and even advanced compared to some of the generic advice given in this forum (which I'm sometimes guilty of ).
I'm certain that this forum also appreciates the time and effort that you usually put into each of your poker-related posts.
My holier-than-thou attitude seems to be a misinterpretation of me simply trying to point out some of the remarks that you've made that appear to be condescending and arrogant.
Let's agree to disagree on some things, and move on.
+1 Great play so far.... I need to get past that DAMN BUBBLE....
Good job Pete and good point Math, maybe see what kind of turn
out we get the next 2 weeks, hopefully at least 2-3 tables min.
C U all Sun. eve. 8)
I guess it's better than wearing the Golddust T-shirt.
I didn't disagree with anything you did. I just said keep re-raising you f***ing maniac and I'll burn you or something like that. I'm a vulgar person, but I guess some people find that too much. I apologize for that. Just sending you the message that I'm aware of what you're doing. Any edge I can get at the table, I'll take. I don't appreciate your holier-than-thou, condescending attitude, as if you know me. Just keep showing up each week so I can take your chips.
I was doing pretty well .. then my AA ran into KK
I was still doing ok then my AK ran into AT.... both preflop.
Ship happens
I completely admit that some of my PMs and posts are unduly hostile and I again apologize.
But c'mon...the Mr. Perfect thing is totally in fun. I wasn't even listening to it.
When I go to Las Vegas in a month, I am totally wearing my "Ravishing" Rick Rude t-shirt to the tables. It's all about just having fun and being ridiculous. If I am drunk enough, I might actually get up and gyrate my hips when I win a big pot, much like the late Ravishing One used to do before his matches. I probably won't, because I realize that's over the top, but I just like the thought.
R.I.P. Richard Rood.
Thanks mzbuns... I actually added the money won into the leaderboard a few weeks ago for those interested in seeing that... it was fairly easy to set up.
But you're right, the money won has nothing to do with the rankings.
The tournament tonight doesn't count right?
Not being snarky, just honest. You tried to raise to put pressure on me, knowing that if I pushed, you would "have to call" with a range that was likely to be behind. Did you read that in Jamie Gold's book? And no, I'm not a 4-times heads up finalist this season, because:
a) I've only played 2 games
b) I haven't run like god.
If you really think you can get HU 4 times (out of 8 I think) without an unholy amount of luck being involved, then your arrogance is only exceeded by your idiocy.
Smokindog- That's a nice little program. I can certainly use this to archive the results and refer to it later if there is a dispute. I emailed FT Support a few days ago about this and they said there was no easy way to archive the results into a text file.
But I still need to drag/drop the player names in Excel because the lookup function returns an error if a name is not found, so I can't simply copy/paste the results on top of the names that are already in the spreadsheet.
Pete D, I was planning on converting all the data into a spreadsheet, for I knew that, within a few weeks, all the numbers would look like one big mess.
The only reason I have put off converting Season Three's data into a spreadsheet was because, well, I don't know how to do it. I was planning on learning eventually, because Excel is obviously one of the more popular programs out there, but I kept putting it off until later.
If you'd like, you can go ahead and convert all the data into that format (which looks great btw), then send it to me. However, once you do send that spreadsheet over, I'd appreciate if you helped me become acquainted with the program so that I could continue with my responsibilities for the rest of the season. After all, Rick compensated me for the work I promised him I'd do, and it wouldn't be fair to him if I started to dump the majority of the work off to somebody else.
Thanks for your help, and email me (whenever you're done) at .
Take nap.
Hope more people start showing up again in the future weeks...in a 17-person tourney, anything less than like 3rd kinda sucks for the points total.
In the future, maybe the points system could be changed. I play in a live circuit with friends and we try to make the points system in such a way that like 5th in a 9 person game is similar to like 8th in a 15 person game. We do make higher finishes count for a little more when we have like 12 people out vs. like 6, but also try to adjust every other spot.
I'm maybe just being a baby, but 6th out of 17 is like 20th out of 31 and that doesn't really seem right to me. Your points should be based more on the percentage of players in the tourney you outlast, not just the absolute number you outlast.
Just a suggestion. Still loving the series and my 6th place shot me into 1st overall. Woohoo! Not sure it'll last though, I tend to crack under pressure.
Nice river by the way KronX
So when do we get the official word about whether Sunday the 23rd and Sunday the 30th will count or not? I am fine either way. But might not play and instead watch hockey if it's not going to count in the standings
Thanks Pete for organizing this and thanks everybody else for some great . I play quite a bit at low stakes SnGs and with friends, but have yearned to play against people that actually have a clue what they're doing and this MBJ series definitely has that element!
I'll assume this week counts toward the leaderboard...
yer ronng
piece and luv form me fer thee holdays......RC
The season resumes.
Pete, I just looked at the leaderboard again and I wanted to tell you what a fantastic job you've done with it. It's very easy to read and fun to check out. I really need to play more of these tournies.
I'm so sick of having a slow connection...........I could **** scream!! I disconnected in 4th or 5th in the MBJ and couldn't reconnect......goddammit!!!!
I posted the idea of using a spreadsheet to view the MBJ Leaderboard in another thread... this is what I had in mind:
http://www.petedpoker.com/fulltiltpoker/mbj/mbj_nlhe_season4.html.
I like this format for a couple reasons:
a. You can view either the total point summary or a previous week's result with a click.
b. It's easy to read and color codes could be used to note the tourney winner (shown in yellow) and finishes "in the money", for example.
The format is also nice for the data entry person... the only thing that needs to be done is to sort the names of the players based on their finish in the tournament... the spreadsheet's formulas do the rest, thanks to the lookup function. Even the "number of weeks played" is automatically tallied.
I know this can use some aesthetic touch-ups, but any comments are welcome.Last edited by Pete D on Sun Jan 20, 2008 10:47 pm; edited 8 times in total
